The Da Nang City Department of Tourism announced that it will resume many flights to India, the world's most populous market.

At the same time, from 2025, many international flights will be restored and opened to China, Japan, Qatar, etc.

A representative of the Da Nang Department of Tourism said that on October 23, a direct flight from Da Nang to Ahmedabad (India) will be opened. Ahmedabad is the largest city in the state of Gujarat, where many large Indian businesses investing in Vietnam are headquartered.

In addition, in early 2025, it is expected to restore and open international flights to India (New Delhi, Mumbai), China (Chengdu, Hangzhou, Guangzhou), Japan (Nagoya, Osaka), Qatar (Doha)...

Cao Tri Dung, chairman of the Da Nang City Tourism Association, said that due to some limitations in flight slots, some flights from Da Nang to India had to be temporarily suspended in the past time.

Although there are no direct flights, Da Nang has become a favorite destination for Indian tourists when statistics in 2023 and 2024 show that out of 10 Indian tourists coming to our country, 5 will travel to Da Nang.

"With the restoration of flights to the world's most populous markets, the structure of international visitors to Da Nang will be more even in the coming time. Especially with direct flights to India, the number of visitors from this market will continue to explode as Da Nang has prepared infrastructure and restaurants to welcome this populous market," said Mr. Dung.

According to the Da Nang Department of Tourism, the total number of visitors staying in Da Nang is forecast to reach about 10.3 million in 2024, exceeding the period before the COVID-19 pandemic. Of which, international visitors are estimated to reach 4.2 million.

Compared to the pre-pandemic period, the number of visitors from East Asian countries (Korea, China, Japan) to Da Nang has decreased. However, this decrease is offset by the growth of some new markets such as Taiwan, India, Australia, Russia, etc.

"This reality reflects the shift of some traditional tourist markets to new destinations, but also clearly demonstrates the effectiveness of the policy of diversifying international tourist markets and efforts to seek and expand the tourism industry's market," said a representative of the Da Nang City Department of Tourism.

According to statistics, the international tourist market to Da Nang is still led by visitors from Korea (over 41%), followed by markets from Taiwan, Thailand, China, India, the US, Japan, etc.

Currently, Da Nang has 5 domestic routes and 15 international routes with an average frequency of 115 flights/day.
